Charm App

Charm is a friendship app I designed specifically with women and femmes in mind. My goal is to create a safe space for women to interact online and form long-lasting friendships. As adulthood limits opportunities for new friendships, Charm offers an alternative to traditional online interactions. Instead of texting, users opt exchange long-form letters, fostering deeper bonds. Friendship milestones unlock charms for a shared digital bracelet, adding a fun, sentimental touch. PROCESS

When researching other friendship apps, I noticed that most follow the dating app formula—swiping through profiles based on looks rather than personality. After reading user reviews, I found many were frustrated that profiles focused on photos over hobbies or interests, making it hard to spark genuine conversations. While this setup may work for dating, it doesn’t translate well to friendships, where meaningful connections need more than just a swipe. I used this information to model Charm's letter-based communication and automatic profile matching systems, aiming for a more inclusive and easily interactive platform.
